Harpist

Ekaterina Afanasieva

Born in Moscow, Ekaterina Afanasieva began to play the harp already at the age of 5 years.


She graduated the State Music College and the State Musical-Pedagogical Institute in Moscow (main subject: harp, subsidiary subject: piano) with the „Master of Music Degree in Performance“.


During her studies she has won numerous international competitions, among them the first price at the „National Harp Contest“ and the 3rd price at the „International Vera Dulova Harp Competition”. Ekaterina Afanasieva was honoured to perform at the “7th World Harp Congress” in Prague at the „Focus on Youth“ and she was the solo harpist of the „Youth Symphony Orchestra“ in Moscow.


In June 2005 she completed her postgraduate studies „Künstlerische Reife“ (artistic maturity) at the Conservatory of Hamburg with the highest award.


At the moment, Afanasieva lives at the Lake of Constance as a freelance harpist. She gives harp lessons, performs at international festivals and gets engagements in international orchestras such as the “Youth Symphony Orchestra East-West“, the “Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra“, the “Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra Constance”, the “Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Munich” or the “Symphony Orchestra of Vorarlberg”.


Her repertoire comprises classical pieces as well as entertaining programs.

She performs in a variety of music styles including classical, jazz, Broadway, Celtic, religious, popular and other styles. She plays regularly for corporate events, receptions in renowned international first-rate hotels, during wedding ceremonies, church services and choral concerts.
